Position Summary


Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant works with a small Finance team which supports the business in processing, reporting and business consulting.

With a focus on cross-training and multi-role support, the following is a general description of the position's duties and responsibilities:


  • Process accounting transactions including journal entries
  • Perform account reconciliation, monthend closing
  • Process and record incoming payments
  • Ensure timely collection of royalties and reconcile customer payments in a timely manner, including follow up on overdue tariff payments
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or misapplied cash transactions
  • Maintain and update customer records in the system on a timely basis
  • Prepare financial and sales reports and any ad hoc reports assigned
  • Provide A/P processing support and coverage as needed including monthly/quarterly royalty distributions
  • Assist in the preparation of yearend audit working documents
  • Other duties as required

Experience and Qualifications

  • University degree in accounting or commerce
  • 3 years' experience in handson accounting and A/R capacity
  • Must be Excel proficient and savvy with MS Office (Word, Outlook)
  • Must have experience in an enterprise accounting systems (Epicor an asset)
  • Detail oriented, strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to work independently
  • French speaking an asset
