Northern College is seeking a Professor, Motive Power Technician – Heavy Equipment in our School of Trades, Technology, and Apprenticeship.

The successful candidate will be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), and possess excellent teamwork, critical thinking, communication, organization and time management skills.

Experience in diesel fuel systems, diesel emission control systems, heavy duty power train systems, fluid power systems, hoisting and rigging, and welding is considered an asset.

A two-year diploma in Automotive Service Technician, and teaching experience is considered an asset.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Technology, Trades and Apprenticeship the successful candidate will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students in the program, participate as a leader and effective team member working in groups at the college, create a positive teaching and learning environment, using a variety of strategies and materials in the multi-modal delivery of courses.

In addition, the successful candidate must ensure currency and relevance of the teaching material and assessment techniques, must participate in recruitment and program promotion initiatives, and participate in professional development activities at Northern College relevant to his/her own needs.

Certificate of Qualification in Heavy Equipment Tech 421A and/or Truck and Coach Tech 310T; 5 years of experience as a licensed heavy equipment technician.
