    Role and Responsibilities

    The Quality Assurance Group at CAE develops and sustains a world class Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure conformity of customer deliverables and promote continuous improvement. As a Supplier Quality Specialist at CAE, your role will be to ensure that company standards are maintained, and product integrity manage complex issues within functional area of expertise and contribute to the overall business strategy.

    Job Description

    Collaborates with suppliers to assure the quality of their products, materials, components and/or operations. Monitors supplier performance and supports efforts to develop and implement changes to improve the production process. Follows up with suppliers on quality deviations and ensures that solutions are identified and implemented.

  • Thorough knowledge of Supplier Quality Assurance programs including: selection, qualification, development, auditing and surveillance.
  • Solid experience in Quality Management System and Manufacturing Processes auditing methods and techniques.
  • Applied experience in statistics and statistical process control.
  • Own Supplier related CAPA review and management, ensuring effective use of appropriate problem-solving tools.
  • Support tracking and reporting of KPI and other metrics associated with supplier performance.
  • Manage supplier activities to ensure the quality of assigned Commodity components.
  • Be the technical focal point to coordinate Sourcing, Design & Materials Management functions while interfacing with suppliers. Drive consistency and adherence to quality procedures and specification requirements.
  • From Order to Delivery oriented fully accountable of quality & technical topics.
  • Manage supplier qualifications as required assuring that assigned suppliers have capability and processes to deliver high quality product.
  • Drive Compliance/Maturity audits (Manufacturing process, Inspection process) to assure that Suppliers have effective process control, rigorous product acceptance standards, and robust quality systems
  • Supplier Qualification – Product Qualification

  • Perform Risk Analysis (Supplier/Product) & propose mitigation plan (expediting, inspection, supervisor).
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers to assure product/process compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Reviews design outputs, test procedures, and quality results to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.
  • Ensures products meet the organization's and customers' quality and product integrity requirements.
  • Supports all product development teams by providing supplier assessments and conducting readiness reviews prior to launch or change.
  • Manages initial sample / part approval inspection process.
  • Supplier Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement of supplier's quality, cycle, and delivery performance.
  • Manage supplier non-conformance and Deviation activities; identify and drive process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Conduct process capability analysis for Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics. Work with suppliers to improve process capability.
  • Support Sourcing Quality and cost out initiatives (COPQ).
  • Lead cross functional initiatives to improve part quality.
  • Manage Low Performer (on regular basis) link to NCR, Audit results, Planning, Manufacturing issues.
  • Be involved into claim management process (ensure that all data needed for claim are available and relevant to launch recovery program.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Medical field from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience/knowledge).
  • 5-7 years experience in quality and/or supplier quality role in a highly regulated environment.
  • 5-7 years experience working in an ISO Quality system.
  • Quality Auditor Qualification preferred (ISO , AS, ISO or comparable industry standard and regulatory requirements).
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Audit certification.
  • Strong statistical knowledge and experience preferred; Six-sigma Black/Greenbelt preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Fluency in French & English.
