The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely dissemination of financial information.
This individual will play a key role in supporting the organization's strategic goals and objectives by providing insightful analysis and reporting to senior management and external stakeholders.
MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE
Financial Reporting
- Preparation of quarterly and annual IFRS compliant financial statements meeting all Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) and Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) requirements
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data by reviewing and analyzing financial statements, general ledger accounts, and supporting documentation
- Responsible for all consolidation activities including the review of the consolidation entries
- Responsible for the preparation of all OSC continuous disclosure requirements including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and Annual Information Form (AIF)
- Responsible for holding company accounting reconciliations and financial statements
- Analysis of expected credit losses and specific reserves
- Responsible for optimizing financial reporting and operational processes
- Coordinate financial statement and MD&A support for external audit, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
- Participate in the automation of financial statements and reporting
- Stay abreast of emerging accounting standards and reporting requirements (IFRS)
- Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decisionmaking
- Assist with inputs into the monthly and quarterly forecast models
- Prepare financial reports and analysis to senior management, and other stakeholders as needed
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Qualifications and Technical Expertise
- Professional Designation, CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands on and progressive experience in financial reporting, including experience in a public accounting firm
- Experience with financial reporting software such as Workiva and ERP systems would be an asset
- Indepth knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS), principles, and best practices
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with a high level of integrity and ethical standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
