An exciting permanent position is available for the Branch Operations Coordinator with the Forest Improvement and Research Management branch.


This position works at the Cowichan Lake Research Station at a semi-isolated 450-acre forestry research site with several buildings onsite.

This position works in a rustic setting that is mostly treed with the presence of wildlife in the area.


The Branch Operations Coordinator provides high quality administrative services including expenditure management and tracking, payroll administration, records management, contract administration and facilities and asset management.


You will be required to monitor contract invoicing; administer credit card purchases; and set up, oversee and maintain the ARCS/ORCS records management system for the branch.

The position also coordinates bookings and logistics for visitors to the Cowichan Lake Conference Centre, including issuing and tracking billings and recoveries for the Centre.


Job Requirements:


  • Secondary School graduation or equivalent.
  • A minimum of six (6) months related experience providing administrative support in an office setting
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • diploma or certificate in office administration
- one (1) year of post-secondary courses in accounting
- two (2) or more years related experience (ie. with contract administration, financial transactions/activities, pay/leave administration and/or records management activities)
- one (1) or more years experience analyzing and/or reconciling financial data using Excel
- proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (ie. Word, Excel, Outlook)
- one (1) or more years payroll and leave management experience including processing and verifying pay/leave information
- one (1) or more years providing customer service


Willingness to:

  • Must possess and maintain (or be immediately eligible to obtain) a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence in order to meet the transportation requirements for the position
  • Willing and able to occasionally lift and carry equipment and supplies up to fifteen (15) pounds for short distances over uneven ground.
  • Willing to commute to a semiisolated work location 4 to 5 days per week
  • Willing to work directly with members of the public
  • Willing to work in a building alone at times
  • Willing to work at a worksite where wildlife may be present

About this Position:

One (1) permanent full time position is currently available in Cowichan Lake.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
