The Analyst Cash Management Accounting & Reconciliation reconciles accounts and ensures compliance to processes and proper accounting of financial transactions.

The Analyst complies with internal controls relating to the timeliness and accuracy of financial transactions through performing ongoing monitoring of financial transactions and systems.


Responsibilities:

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Analyst, Cash Management Accounting & Reconciliation.

  • Downloads data from various sources to ensure reconciliation of money held in trust. Gathers and analyzes financial transaction data and reports. Reviews documents, transactions and financial systems for accuracy and compliance to corporate accounting policy and Canadian accounting standards. Evaluates if adjustments, journal vouchers, and\or accruals are required to maintain proper financial reporting, financial control, and reconciliation. Creates accounting entries and obtains appropriate level of authorization.
  • Collects and reviews accounting adjustments, assesses the accuracy and appropriateness of the adjustments, documents the results and creates a summary for supervisors and management to review.
  • Downloads and manipulates financial and operational data and creates various reports, trending charts, and spreadsheets in order to present to decision makers for recommendations and decisions.
  • Supports the preparation of formal monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports including detailed working papers and supporting documentation. Responds to inquiries and actions from corporate accounting groups and internal\external auditors. Meets with these stakeholders to provide explanations as required.

Job Responsibilities (continued):


  • Reviews and applies the policies, regulations and procedures covered under bilateral agreements. Provides input into new or changing financial procedures and reviews/implements external procedures impacting financial systems.
  • Reviews, identifies and corrects suspended financial transactions that have occurred between financial systems.
  • Performs collection activities as necessary to ensure settlement of outstanding receivables, prepares and sends reminders to FPAs; rebills amounts wrongly amended or prepares supplementary billings, provides appropriate support documents; maintains and produces status reports of outstanding accounts, and reports anomalies to the appropriate person as required.
  • Collaborates directly with external and internal customers to resolve enquiries and disputes resulting from discrepancies identified in the processing of financial transactions. Responses are required to be timely, thorough, accurate and professional.
  • Maintains official financial records in accordance with corporate record management policies and corporate financial policies in order to support financial audits and internal controls.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Completion of secondary school according to provincial standards or equivalent (GED) is required, AND
  • Completion of postsecondary (College/University) course(s) in a related field. (Business Administration and / or Commerce and / or Finance and / or Accounting).
Experience

  • 24 years of related work experience is required, accounting or financial analysis preferred.
  • CPA, CMA or CPA, CGA or CPA, CA designation(s) or in the process of obtaining is considered an asset.
