Job Summary:
Live-In Youth Support Worker to support children and youth in a therapeutic home setting.
The youth support worker will be part of a care team that supports the growth, development of children and youth to their full potential.
This position requires strong relationships building and the ability to connect with children/youth in a trusting way. Employees must have a valid driver license with a good driving record. Business staff vehicles are provided by WS staff well working at the resources.Duties and Responsibilities:
You will provide a therapeutic daily living environment for the clients of Wiidookodaadiwin Services Ltd. This includes supporting safety, culture, and a sense of belonging in the resource.
The tasks include but not limited to:
- Working effectively within an integrated team to support the children and youth we work with.
- Provide cultural appropriate daily experiences that support and promote the development of the youth.
- Introduce cultural activities and materials with the children and youth.
- Plan, implement and evaluate daily activities and experiences to meet the goals of the child or youth.
- Build positive relationships with children or youth and their families.
- Maintain ongoing communication with all team members and community professionals
- Attend appointments with the youth.
- Meal planning and preparation with the youth.
- Support the youth with homework.
- Teaching and supporting care and cleaning of the home.
- Teaching the youth self care and grooming skills
- Money management.
- Employment readiness skills
- Crisis intervention
Qualifications:
Education:
- Diploma in Social Services, Human Services, or Social Work, or a related field would be an asset.
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work considered an asset.
Experience:
- At least 6 months previous related work experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
Preferred Training:
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
- Valid First Aid Level One with CPR
- Naloxone Training
- WHMIS
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid British Columbia Drivers License (class 5) or Valid International Drivers License
- Ability to be flexible to work in different resources to meet operational demand.
- Flexible Schedule.
Hours:
- Wiidookodaadiwin Services Ltd. operates support services and resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Job Types:
Full-time, Casual
Salary:
$355.00-$450.00 per day
