What can I expect to do in this role?: You will:

  • provide financial services and expertise on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning across four branches within the division to support efficient and effective financial and administrative practices related to monitoring, reporting, and controllership
- prepare, analyze, monitor, and maintain reports on the expenditure/revenue accounts and transfer payments
- provide updated recommendations to management on financial, procurement, and administrative matters


How do I qualify?:


Accounting and Financial Knowledge:


  • You have demonstrated knowledge of general accounting principles and practices (GAAP), including accrual accounting practices.
  • You have knowledge of financial and accounting policies, principles, procedures, and auditing practices and an understanding of financial statements to support financial analysis and reporting.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of procurement practices, policies, and principles to advise on and lead procurement processes for the division.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:


  • You have demonstrated independent problemsolving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • You can address and resolve complicated and high priority financial transactions, problematic issues and ongoing accruals for transfer payment programs.
  • You can investigate and advise on problems/issues/options and identify, analyze, and resolve discrepancies.
  • You have evaluation skills to assess financial performance, cost efficiency, and risk.

Communication, Consultation and Interpersonal Skills:


  • You have oral communication and interpersonal skills to provide financial advice and guidance to management and staff.
  • You have influencing and interpersonal skills to liaise and advise and obtain the support and trust of division staff and stakeholders.
  • You can prepare financial reports and documents.
  • You have presentation skills to provide explanations and direction on financial issues, tools and processes to support senior management and customers.
  • You have collaboration and consultation skills to work and consult with a variety of staff in addressing and resolving financial queries and issues and gathering the necessary financial information to meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • You can effectively organize and prioritize workload to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
  • You demonstrate strong initiative and the ability to work with mínimal supervision in a team environment.
