The Principal Investigator, Quality User Experience is responsible for working with Digital Learning Experience (DLX) Developers on all phases of the development and implementation of digital learning simulations.

To fulfill this mandate, the incumbent will develop and prototype plans to conduct large scale user acceptance and focus group testing of DLX products in addition to supporting research into this space such as:

UI/UX (User Interface/ User Experience) assessment and review, user journey analysis and development, and UX testing and research, related to the development of learning simulations with VARLab's development team for various disciplines across the college.


Responsibilities:


  • Obtaining user experience outcome goals from content experts for DLX (Digital Learning Experience) projects, revising as needed based on feedback from content experts and internal stakeholders
  • Developing and iterating UX Research practices and protocols to test the quality of DLX products, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Developing and iterating UI patterns and practices to guide DLX development
  • Leading and overseeing all aspects of the UX Research of DLX products
  • Ensuring DLX projects are shipped with high quality UI and UX
  • Coaching and mentoring student team members
  • Ensuring JIRA and Confluence are updated with work plans and progress
  • Cosupervising, in collaboration with other members of the VARLab leadership team (VLT), the workflow of workstudy, coop, and work placement students on projects that advance the development of digital learning simulations
  • Working as part of the VLT to innovate, problemsolve, and to identify processes and procedures to ensure high quality learning experiences are delivered according to plan
  • Collaborating with the DLX Project Manager (Pedagogical Development) to ensure learning objectives are identified and met in simulation development as articulated in the course outline for the intended course the simulation will be deployed in, from the perspective of UI/UX
  • Developing User Acceptance Testing protocols and questions for testing completed simulations with faculty and students

Qualifications:

  • Threeyear Diploma/Degree in Software Engineering Technology, Computer Programming & Analysis, Computer Science, Programming, Software/System Engineering, or a related field of study
  • Three years of work experience relevant practical work experience to include experience with designing and/or working with digital user interfaces, experience designing, leading, and reporting on UAT and UX Research, and experience with software development and testing
  • Highlevel communication and consultation skills
  • Significant UI/UX skills and knowledge
  • Significant project management skills and knowledge
  • Strong organization and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to develop and implement quality assurance practices, processes, and systems
