Job Description:

The Regional Vice President is responsible for the leadership of the sales teams in their region.

This responsibility spans both our Group Life and Health and Group Retirement businesses and will motivate and lead the team to achieve exceptional client and advisor experiences in our quest to grow net client sales and profitability.

You will lead a diverse team of Group Retirement and Group Life and Health experts and will be supported by a sales management team who report directly into you.

As a team you will achieve annual sales, persistency and profitability targets.

You will set the tone for your team in representing and building a high-performance workplace, steeped in principles of respect, empowerment, high employee engagement and personal accountability.


What you will do
The incumbent will be accountable for growing sales, meeting persistency targets and achieving regional profitability requirements by:

  • Working in close partnership with the Regional Sales Directors to ensure appropriate product and sales marketing support
  • Delivers on the territory sales targets and successfully manages the regional sales budgets.
  • Focus on growing productive advisor and consulting house partnerships in your region
  • Personally, manage executive relationships with key advisors and clients
  • Creation and implementation of regional business plans
  • Build partnerships and strong working relationships with the Regional Service Director and their extended client service team
  • Regional travel for in person meetings with customers and industry partners to develop key relationships and to grow the visibility of Canada Life
  • Play a meaningful role in the strategic direction of the organization through input and participation in Business Development senior leadership meetings
  • Ensures full use and commitment to Head Office corporate strategies and tools
  • Participation in regular strategy, planning and results meetings
  • Working with Head Office business leaders to help regional team maximize their opportunities and resolve issues

What you will bring

  • 5+ years of experience in a sales or wholesaling role within the financial services industry with:
  • Strong leadership experience including sales/wholesaling staff supervision, developing team effectiveness, executing tactical plans
  • Experience developing, implementing, and executing talent strategies to drive an engaged highperforming team
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize; use time management and organizational tools
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to promote the Group Customer value proposition
  • Takes responsibility, accepts challenges and is motivated by results
  • Well organized, capable of managing a region and capable of managing many different situations with the end goal always focused on sales
  • Exceptional coaching capabilities with a penchant for driving a high performance, action oriented environment
