Description
Purpose and Scope:
As a member of the Materials team the Shipper/Material Handler reports to the Materials Manager. The Shipper/Material Handler is responsible receiving goods and shipping completed products.
Work must be done in a safe and efficient manner and comply with all Stackpole International's Health & Safety policies, procedures and quality systems.
____________________________Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work from shipping report, ship list, and advisement from ship cocoordinator to prepare shipments.
- Perform secondary operations (e.g. tumbling, oil impregnating, steam treating and packing)
- Safety transport properly identified material from process to process and store in appropriate location
- Communicate with operators and observe parts requirements in order to maintain a continuous supply of material for secondary operations.
- Ship, receive, move and store materials consigned to and from Stackpole International, Stratford from suppliers, outside processors, services, customers and internal departments.
- Collect and dispose of scrap bins, floor sweepings, scrap powder and parts at Compacting.
- Prepare load sheets, and load trucks for outgoing shipments.
- Prepare shipping documents as required. Sign out loads, distribute paper work and generate / send ASN's.
- Followup transmission of ASN within 1 hour of shipment
Done by day shift shipper in the absence of ship coordinator and by afternoon shipper after ship coordinator leaves at 4:00 p.m.)
- Receive and inspect goods received for gross content, and damages. Stamp packing slips as required and forward to shipping coordinator. Issue receiving discrepancy report as required and attach to packing slip.
- Weigh, label, package outgoing product as described by process sheets and packaging information.
- Complete parts traceability tags for products packed and returned to quality department.
- Maintain clean and orderly work area including yard and cartoon storage area.
- Prepare maintenance lift truck checks daily.
- Fill in for material handler in the processing of parts in secondary area during absenteeism or as assigned by supervisor on second shift to process parts required for current shift or start of next shift production.
- Ensures that the requirements of the Quality Management System and Environmental Health and Safety Systems are met.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications, Education And / or Experience:
- Education and/or Experience:_
- High School diploma or equivalent
Qualifications:
- Must have legible writing in order to complete product description tags and assist in inventory counts.
- Must be physically fit in order to move/lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Awareness of safe lifting techniques and proper forklift operation.
- Previous forklift experience an asset.
Technical & Skill Requirements:
- Lift truck license
