As a Polypropylene Rail Operator at Savage, you will:

  • Thoroughly inspect rail cars, primarily hoppers cars
  • Perform rail switching of rail hopper cars
  • Operate Car Mover to index hopper cars through wash tracks and loading tracks.
  • Wash and dry empty rail hopper cars.
  • Load rail hopper cars with bulk polypropylene pellets.
  • Handle officerelated duties, including some data entry.
  • Perform general maintenance ("bolt on bolt off"), cleaning, housekeeping, and snow removal.
  • Explore opportunities to expand the role into a Polypropylene Plant Operator

This is what we need from you:

  • Possession of or working towards a Power Engineering 4th class certificate
  • Technical understanding of plant processes, equipment, and automation
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and welldeveloped interpersonal skills
  • Availability to work a 12hour rotating shift schedule (days and nights)

We are seeking individuals who have:

  • A sound understanding or aptitude to learn the loading of bulk plastics
  • Understanding or willingness to learn railroad operations and safety
  • Mechanical inclination
  • Ability to attend and pass all tests associated with jobrelated coursework, including IROR, CROR, WHMIS, TDG
  • A high school diploma
  • Preferred experience in the petrochemical field or other industrial environment
  • Asset: Locomotive operation and Railcar Mover operation experience

Here are some of the Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outside in any condition
  • Must pass a preemployment physical, reference checks, drug screen, motorvehicle report and criminal background check
  • Must be able to climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend a ladder
  • Must be able to stand, kneel or crawl
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
