Construction Technician (Inspector) - 2 Positions

Public Works - Operations Support

Two Positions

One (1) Regular Full-Time

One (1) Contract Full-Time; 13 Months

Salary Range:
$69,273 - $86,592 per annum


Work Mode:
Hybrid

Reporting to the Supervisor, Development, Construction and Inspection you will be responsible for inspecting watermains, valves, hydrants, hydrant valves and service boxes on Capital Works and Subdivision projects, ensuring that all work is done in accordance with Regional standards and specifications.

You will also inspect manholes and water chambers for Capital and Development projects as required and keep various external agencies informed with the Region's decisions and reports with regard to the Inspections.

  • Perform all necessary inspections required for Preliminary & Final watermain inspection in accordance to Region of Peel Standards and Specifications.
  • Prepare reports for development TA or Foreperson Construction Inspections as required documenting inspection services provided.
  • Receive and checks field drawings to ensure that they are in compliance with Regional standards and specifications.
  • Inspection of Manholes and water chambers for Capital and Development projects as required.
  • Respond to complaints in unassumed subdivisions, detailing the deficiency and recommending repairs.
  • Prepare reports, detailing deficiencies for the Supervisor and/or Foreperson Construction Inspections.
  • Maintain good public relations with contractors, consultants and the general public.
  • Ensure all field equipment is maintained on a regular basis.
  • Ensure all reports are accurately completed, electronically filed and distributed.
  • Assist with training on all aspects of Inspection to seasonal staff as required.
  • Assist with viewing CCTV videos and preparing reports noting deficiencies or recommendations for approval.
  • Assist with inspections for Connection, Capital or Development type projects.
  • Assist with payroll on an as required basis.
  • Assist with contract administration for development projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field
  • Ability to multitask using welldeveloped technical/professional skills
  • Working knowledge of Region of Peel Standards and Specifications with ability to comply with these requirements
  • Displayed understanding of water, wastewater and transportation systems
  • Polished written and oral communication skills
  • Teamplayer mindset with ability to perform unsupervised work
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Office Suite, with experience with Hansen preferred
  • Certified with Working at Heights preferred
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License with access to your own vehicle
  • Well versed knowledge of Health and Safety regulations

Location:

In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 2 Copper Rd, Brampton, ON_ _worksite.

The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
