Job purpose
BTE Assembly Ltd is a family owned and operated plastics manufacturing industry located in Listowel, Ontario. We currently have an opportunity in our Accounting Department.


The Controller will be responsible for budget management, financial and cost analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting and assisting with financial responsibilities of the companies, as assigned.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of and support the company's strategic plans
  • Prepare and coordinate the annual budget process and prepare financial forecasts, as
required

  • Manage the performance of direct reports including coaching and feedback
  • Prepare monthly accounting reports, ensuring the reports are timely and accurate
  • Present month end financial results, analysis and KPIs to Management Team
  • Coordinate the update of product costing (BOMs) and support customer quotes
  • Generates costing reports; reviews and analyzes opportunities for operational cost saving
  • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and
accurate payments

  • Monitor cash flow and ensure in compliance with bank loan agreements
  • Manage the preparation and processing of payroll including entry of journal entries
biweekly

  • Keep up to date on current Payroll legislation and Human Resources trends
  • Periodically review processes and workflow to ensure the department continues to meet
business objectives

  • Prepare year end working papers and financial statement support for outside accountant
review

  • All other duties and projects, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Business Administration or Accounting with a CPA
designation
years of experience working in a similar capacity, in a manufacturing facility is
required

  • Experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and human resources legislation is required
years of costing experience in a manufacturing environment is considered a strong asset

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office required and use of an ERP system an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning and organization skills plus ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High degree of integrity and honesty, understanding of the requirements of
confidentiality

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Sound decision making and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to coach and mentor others

Working conditions
This position is performed in an office or meeting room setting. This position interacts with all members of the Accounting Department, as well as all members of the Management team.

At certain times during the year, the Controller may have to work more than their normal workweek to meet deadlines (month end)

$70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
