Role Summary:

This position leads and facilitates plant wide MAFACT \ lean manufacturing strategy and implementation for P&F. Responsible for analyzing, developing, implementing changes in process design, manufacturing methods and process improvements. Reviews the organization's internal manufacturing processes to ensure maximum efficiencies are achieved. Implements continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization using various Lean Methodologies and principles (e.g. 5S, VSM, SMED, TPM, Kaizen etc) and leads P&F to be a highly competitive world class manufacturing plant.


Key Responsibilities:


  • The World Class Mfg Champion will perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects the World Class Mfg Champion Expectations, P&F's Visions and Values, and Magna's Employee's Charter
  • Follow and abide by all Government, Legal, Magna and P&F's rules and regulations
  • Develop processes and procedures for record retention, continuous improvement and job training
  • Promote the benefits of excelling as a World Class Manufacturing (WCM) organization
  • Develop with Senior management team, plan and assist in implementation of strategic planning, Mafact, and lean strategy in all departments
  • Educate, train and motivate our workforce on Mafact / WCM initiatives
  • Develop and maintain model lines as per Mafact guidelines
  • Champions divisional Mafact assessments and audits
  • Maintains Mafact Certification from the Mafact (Sub)Group Lead including Mafact lean simulation
  • Owns Execution of training plan for delivery of Corporate Mafact Training modules
  • Coaches and follows up with department managers to complete continuous improvement projects
  • Develop annual strategy A3(mother) for Mafact goals
  • Support Department manager's development of a supporting A3's(child) to achieve these goals
  • Coordinates Plan and Performs Mafact lean simulation training with team
  • Champion, Coordinate, support and review CI activities

  • Maintain Process, Organize and participate in the weekly GM/ AGM/ plant manager Gemba walk.
  • Owns and maintains plant layouts in Autocad format
  • Owns and maintains Benchmarking and Best Practice Sharing process in accordance with Mafact
  • Work independently with mínimal supervision. Must be selfmotivated
  • Supports Manager and Supervisor in new program development and follows up all program stages (timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, tryout, launch, final buyoff, prototype programs, engineering changes, program packaging requirements including unit load manuals) as needed and requested by Engineering Manager
  • Supports Program teams in new\existing program development. i.e. flow analysis, material flow within the plant, plant layouts, new equipment layout, warehousing requirements, packaging studies, freight studies as required
  • Develops and establishes appropriate key performance measurable
  • Lead problem solving activities throughout the plant
  • Plans and executes time motion studies
  • Conducts method analysis and improvements to work station design
  • Develops quotes for capital projects including racks and material handling equipment

Key Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of education and workrelated experience
  • Completion of a specialized course(s) taught in recognized community colleges and universities, consisting of more that two academic years. Or equivalent combination of education and workrelated experience
  • 10+ years related work experience in an automotive environment
  • Min. 5 years related work experience with successful World Class Manufacturing implementations in an automotive environment
  • Proven record of successfully planning, leading and closing assigned project on time and budget
  • Proficient in Training Within Industry, Standard Work, and Ergonomics
  • Documented experience in training others
  • A working knowledge (oral and written) of both English and Mathematics.
  • Good organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problemsolving skills.
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and nonscheduled overtime shifts, etc.)
  • Must be able to work in a strictly confidential matter
  • Proficient Knowledge of Value Stream Mapping required
