Accounts Payable Clerk

Position Overview


The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for ensuring accuracy of accounts payable records through clerical and administrative duties within both of our companies.

General tasks include assisting with reporting, bookkeeping, research and resolving discrepancies.


Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Provides accounting and clerical assistance to accounting department.

Calculates and processes invoices, reports, account statements, purchase orders, return material authorizations.

Enters, verifies and reconciles accounting transactions including accounts payable and moderate accounts receivable.

Assists in preparing deposits, reports.

Records information, processes and files forms.

Investigates and resolves accounts payables and moderate accounts receivable discrepancies.

Assists in month-end reporting procedures.

Tracks and audits petty cash.

Bank deposits.

Reconciles accounts including credit cards.

Processes re-occurring invoices.

Maintains orderly financial filing system.


General Support
Files and completes general administrative tasks such as word processing, filing, faxing and photocopying.

Liaises with other departments and stakeholders.

Timecard review and entry to be submitted for payroll processing.

Experience/Education/Training:


  • High School graduate, Grade 12 or GED
  • A minimum of 2 years clerical accounting experience
  • Degree or relevant certificate in Bookkeeping or Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • Good communication skills
  • Class 5 driver's license
