Position Summary


The Senior Commercial Auto Claims Analyst is responsible for handling and assessing various types of complex auto bodily injury claims including fatalities, catastrophic injuries and large property damage losses in accordance with all AIG Operational / Best Practices Guidelines.

This would include determining coverage and drafting reservation of rights and denial letters, attendance at mediation / settlement conferences and instructing independent adjusters, Third Party Administrators and lawerys in the negotiation and settlement of claims.

Organizational Structure

This position is located in Toronto, Ontario and reports to the Commercial Auto Claims Unit Manager.


Performance Objectives:

Review commercial auto claims in conjunction with policy wordings to determine coverage.
Assessing damages of complex auto bodily injury claims.
Provide direction to independent adjusters and Third Party Administrators on investigation of claims.

Operate within AIG Best Practice guidelines, including suitable and accurate reserving, appropriate file notes, timely payment requests, file resolution strategy, and effective use of electronic diaries.

Prepare disclaimer and/or reservation of rights letters and communicate same to underwriters, brokers and insureds as applicable.
Provide instructions to legal counsel to bring about appropriate resolution of claims.
Ensure compliance by legal counsel of AIG litigation guidelines.
Participate in mediation/ADR process to bring about resolution of claim.
Negotiate settlements directly where possible.
Adherence to large loss reporting requirements.
Training, mentoring and coaching junior staff.

Minimum 8+ years handling commercial auto bodily injury claims
Commercial General Liability experience is an asset
College/University or equivalent industry experience
CIP designation an asset
Ability to make decisions and give direction to external adjusters and/or defense counsel
Must be a quick learner with strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Proficiency handling multiple systems and software to navigate a paperless claims environment
Bilingual in English/French is an asset


Travel:

Approximately 10% to attend mediations/ADR/Pre-Trials
