- Prior to being awarded a Masters inOccupational Therapy, 32 weeks of clinical experience must be completed underthe supervision of a registered occupational therapist.

- Assesses patients referred for inpatient occupational therapy services.
- Develops appropriate treatment program based on the patient's ability and limitations; setting short and long term goals. This includes referral to other services required to meet these goals.
- Implements the treatment plan through provision of appropriate occupational therapy (and delegation of appropriate supervised acts).
- Educates and informs the patient and family before, during and at the termination of treatment to help the patient understand their condition and maximize their functional return.
- Reassesses patient's progress and goals continually to ensure appropriate progression of treatment.
- Support the development and implementation of best practice models of occupational therapy.
- Provides input to the patient's physician and other members of the health care team through direct personal discussion, inter-disciplinary conferences, and maintenance of adequate records and regular notes on the patient's chart. Records include assessment, evaluation of progress, and discharge summary.
- Maintain and submit statistical records of daily patient and non patient activity.
- Ensures patient safety and enforces safety in the treatment area.
- Adheres to occupational therapy college requirements.
- Supervises support personal through instructing and monitoring assistants in the provision of client care.
- Ongoing improvement of occupational therapy knowledge base through ongoing education both in-hospital and continuing education activities.
- Provide high quality occupational therapy services.

The Opportunity:
Thestaff therapist functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team and isresponsible for the management of all occupational therapy aspects of thepatient's care. Upon referral from aphysician, the therapist is responsible for assessing and developing a programof care to help assume or reassume the skills needed for the job ofliving. The staff therapist will helpidentify barriers and enable their patients to change these barriers.
