The Agency

The Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is a charity that reduces crime and makes Calgary communities safer by helping youth and adults make positive changes and move away from criminal behaviour.

We do this by addressing the root causes of crime through housing, education, employment programs and support so that individuals have alternatives to breaking the law.

The Program
The Calgary John Howard Society owns or operates 6 locations within Calgary.

Our Maintenance Workers performs general maintenance and grounds keeping activates at our sites, contributing to the safety and well-being of our clients, employees, and stakeholders.

The Position

Qualifications:

Experienced in building maintenance, outdoor lawn and grounds maintenance
Valid CSTS/WHMIS, First Aid/CPR endorsements or the ability to obtain
Operational knowledge of required equipment Valid Driver's License and clean drivers abstract
Possesses own transportation suitable for role.
Experience with general repair, preventative maintenance and painting
Basic Computer skills/Knowledge, Office365, and Ticketing systems
Comfortable working in proximity with high needs clients
High school diploma or equivalent

Duties

Load, unload and move products, materials by hand or using basic material handling equipment
Operate industrial cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaners, floor/wax strippers, High pressure washers and snow removal equipment
Wash windows, interior and exterior walls
Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas
Cut grass and tend grounds
Perform other routine maintenance jobs and repairs
Assist the Agency's Full Time maintenance coordinator with renovation projects
Operate vehicle to transport materials to and from stores, facilities
Other duties as assigned

A current criminal record check (CPIC) and Child Intervention Check (where applicable) are required (within the past three months).

This is a permanent part time, 20 hour per week benefit eligible position.
