Job Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Public Health Business Planning & Improvement, the Public Health Reporting and Accountability Specialist is responsible for providing expertise for timely and accurate reporting of accountability and compliance requirements of the Ontario Public Health Standards Accountability Framework and providing budgetary support for Public Health's business operational requirements.

In addition, the position is responsible to coordinate and provide support for Public Health priority initiatives.

This includes completing analyses, writing reports, business cases, briefing notes, project charters, learning materials and other documents as required, conducting process reviews and developing recommendations for improvements, and facilitating meetings.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Provides support to the Manager of Public Health Business Planning & Improvement for the completion of reports and requests from the province, internal reporting requirements, budget development, monitoring, reporting and preparing analyses, as required.
  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting to the province for accountability reporting requirements of the Ontario Public Health Standards such as Annual Service Plans, Annual and Quarterly Reports and Compliance Reports.
  • Researches best practices to make and implement recommendations to senior management that demonstrate compliance and quality with the Ontario Public Health Standards Accountability Requirements.
  • Compiles reports and monitors provincial accountability and compliance requirements for public health, identifies gaps, opportunities and risks, and develops and implements action plans.
  • Provides support to public health on business planning and special projects working in collaboration with corporate partners (e.g. Human Resources, Finance, Payroll and IT).
  • Provides leadership and guides work of support staff.
  • Provides project management, conducts business process reviews and provides guidance on business reporting requirements.
  • Writes, briefing notes, training materials, proposals and correspondence as required for public health accountability matters.
  • Participates in internal and external work groups relating to accountability in public health.
  • Promotes and actively contributes to a climate of positive change and continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Skills & Qualifications:


Essential

  • University degree in public or business administration, or a Health Sciences degree with a focus on public or business administration and budget management, along with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably in a public health or municipal setting.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Public Health Standards and regulatory frameworks for public health is required, as well as knowledge of governance, accountability, funding, policies, reporting and compliance requirements for provincially funded public health programs and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail as well as the ability to work both independently with mínimal supervision and as an effective team player are required.
  • Political acuity, diplomacy and tact are required to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required for effective knowledge translation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
