The Editor role within DNEG 360 is a unique position that merges the requirements and responsibilities from pre production through to post visualisation editorial.

The Editor is central to every project at DNEG 360 and in this position you will be working in an editorial perspective across a variety of fields including but not limited to onset and motion capture, content creation, previs editing through to postvis.


The Editor is a key storyteller and works alongside the Director and departmental supervisor by actively participating in story discussions by contributing ideas and shot and camera suggestions.

Additionally the Editor will cut together a variety of projects, manage and ingest material, whilst building and maintaining a close working relationship with the Film Editor and 1st Assistant.


As the workflows in DNEG 360 are ever adapting and changing with the advent of new technologies the Editor is required to be agile and adaptable with the ability to be detail oriented whilst working under tight deadlines.


The role requires someone with a good creative eye who is able to actively think on their feet to mitigate any problematic situations which may arise and are happy to embrace new futuristic and exciting ways of storytelling.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Editing previs, postvis, storyboards, animatics and mocap
  • Working with the previs supervisor to shape the story and coordinate all the shots to be used in the final project
  • Record and edit temp dialogue, sound effects and music and edit these into the sequence
  • Maintain and keep up to date the cuts with the latest versions, reconforming cuts when needed to match a Director's cut
  • Help shape the story by contributing ideas and shot suggestions
  • Create and maintain edit information including frame range and shot information in Shotgrid
  • Preparing and driving edit reviews and deliveries
  • Providing mentorship to assistants

Must Haves

  • 5+ years experience working as a Previs editor on highend longform productions (TV/Feature Films)
  • A history of VFX Editorial Department experience
  • Demonstrate a good level of knowledge and proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer
  • Experience cutting animatics and storyboards
  • Knowledge of cameras and lenses would be an asset
  • Strong animation and technical skills
  • Great communication skills with high profile clients
  • Good understanding of Film and video formats, files, frame rates and resolutions and familiarity with working with different video codecs
  • Experience encoding, transcoding, ingesting and conforming
  • A good understanding of film terminology, techniques, editing styles and awareness of Animation and VFX pipeline and terminology
  • Experience using shot tracking databases such as Shotgrid or Filemaker
  • Sound mixing and recording experience would be desirable
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine although not a must have would be an asset
