Big Boy's Toys LTD is a family owned and operated RV Dealership located in beautiful Nanoose Bay, British Columbia. Our dealership primary sells Jayco products, however we also proudly sell Forest River, Northern Lite and Leisure Travel products.

We take pride in creating excellent customer service and helping our customers enjoy the beauty of the Island through recreation.

At Big Boy's Toys we have a dedicated service and parts department that supports our shop team.

We have an asphalted lot and a hard walled, concrete floored shop with heating and cooling so that our technicians are comfortable in all seasons Currently, our close-knit service team is made up of six skilled technicians, two detailers, two service writers, two parts advisers and a warranty clerk.

We have a knowledgeable Service Manager with 32 years of RV experience that provides mentorship and support to our shop team and acts as our shop foreman.

Our business is growing, so we are looking to expand our team in order to keep up with increasing demand from current and prospective clients.


Service Technician
Do you have experience in the trades (e.g., plumbing, mechanics, construction or electrical)? Do you enjoy problem solving and working as part of a team? Do you want to upgrade your career? If so, a career in the RV industry might be for you, and we are currently looking to add an RV technician to our team


The role of an RV technician is wide ranging, every day is a little different RV technicians at Big Boys Toys work on everything from small car towable travel trailers to large Class A motor homes.

Your role would involve diagnosing and repairing a wide range of electrical, plumbing, and construction related problems. You will also be involved in the installation of additional components including solar panels, leveling systems, and washer/dryer combos.

An additional key role of RV technicians at our dealership, especially during the summer months, is to get our customers on the road with their unit.

You will be responsible for completing pre-delivery inspections of the units to ensure that they are road trip ready

We take pride in having one of the largest heated and cooled indoor shops on Vancouver Island.

We also work hard to provide both a safe and comfortable work environment, such as by providing our team with scissor lifts instead of just ladders, a large forklift for relocating units, an integrated roof harness system, and a Washbot for exterior cleaning of units, among many other things.


Pay Rate:

- $20-25 based on experience. Able to increase with alongside certification.


Responsibilities:


  • Completing predelivery inspections
  • Diagnosing and repairing RVs which includes:
  • Working on appliances such as fridges, furnaces, water heaters and air conditioners
  • Repairs to RV body and structural components
  • Repairs and diagnostics of electrical systems
  • Repairs to plumbing systems
  • Repairs to cabinetry and furniture
  • Repairs to undercarriage and suspension
  • Use of testing equipment, both computerized and non
  • Installation and setup of trailer and fifth wheel hitches
  • Perform routine safety and functionality inspections on customer units
  • Winterization of units
  • Documenting repairs through notetaking and photographs
  • Follow dealership policies and procedures
  • Follow WorkSafe procedures and handle hazardous waste

Skills:


  • Trade experience (plumbing, mechanics, construction or electrical)
  • RV experience is an asset
  • Willing to do occasional road service repairs is an asset
  • Mechanical experience is an asset, however we outsource all motorized work
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read manuals and internet search to aid in diagnostics is an asset
  • Punctual
  • Desire to learn
  • Basic writing and reading abilities, GED not required
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Willing to do occasional road service repairs is an asset
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs

Schedule:


  • 8:30 to 5:00
  • Tuesday to Saturday strongly preferred, but Monday to Friday is negotiable
