Peer Outreach Support Services & Education (POSSE Project) - Sponsored by the Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Center, is seeking an administrative assistant/office manager.


Job Overview:
You will be reporting to the POSSE Director, to assist with administration and office management.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality, provide a safe, non-judgemental presence for marginalized groups, and uphold harm reduction and human rights values.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently and at home when necessary
  • Maintain and monitor budget via budgeting software and/or spreadsheets
  • Administrative and data collection systems navigation and maintenance
  • Submit reimbursements and travel claims
  • Data entry
  • Always maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Digital and hardcopy file organization
  • Remaining open minded and nonjudgmental, with a harm reduction and human rights perspective
  • Provide supplies/materials and other needs to youth accessing POSSE as required
  • Grant writing

Administrative tasks:


Qualifications:


  • Diploma/graduate degree in related field (office administration diploma, business administration diploma, BBA, etc.) or combination of work and education
  • Significant applicable experience minimum of 3 years of administrative support
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft office is mandatory. This includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint by creating and editing forms, minor statistics calculation, minor graphic design, and using formulas in excel
  • Technologically proficient
  • A strong understanding of harm reduction policies and practices
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong ability to work meaningfully with youth
  • Strong ability to work from a human rights, genderbased analysis, harm reduction, and antioppression lens
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • High level interpersonal skills
  • Multitasking skills
  • Sensitivity to various barriers experienced by marginalized populations
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a car
  • Work flexible hours
  • Able to use/access to a phone and computer
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Required Vulnerable Sector Check & Child Abuse Registrar required
  • Able to work independently
  • Familiarity with general office tasks

Assets:


  • Preference will be given to a qualified youth between the ages of 153
  • First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Mandt, and/or Healthy Relationships training
  • Previous or current experience volunteering with POSSE is an asset
  • Previous lived experience
  • Facilitation experience
