Salary:
$145,000 - $160,000 per annum


Duties:

This position will report to the Regional VP/GM and will work along with the Lead Team and HSE team of each covered plant, to ensure that HSE excellence and full compliance are maintained


Responsibilities will include:

  • HSE Compliance Monitoring, Measuring, and Reporting
  • Proper and timely communication of compliance issues or gaps
  • Provide/Facilitate Training for Environmental Elements
  • Drive HSE improvement initiatives
  • Assist with the Development and Implementation of Specialized Initiatives
  • Perform safety and environmental audits
  • Ensure compliance with the IMS (Incident Management System)
  • Work with SPA (Single Point Accountability) to maintain compliance in all functions of the HSE Management system
  • Help to Maintain and Audit the HSE MS (Health, Safety, Environmental Management System)
  • Implement and support ISO 14001 Certification Activity
  • Shop-Floor Observations/Interventions to assist in Continual Culture Development
  • Act as Sub-Regional Mentor and deliver training programs for sustainable change
  • Review and ensure the quality of JSA's (Job Safety Assessments), One Point Lessons, and SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) as they pertain to HSE performance
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Ability to travel, approximately 3060%
  • Communicate, engage and influence decisionmakers and workers to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations
  • Support HSE Managers in workplace audits and investigations of safety concerns, incidents and accidents
  • Support HSE Managers in workplace inspections to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees
  • Develop and implement health and safety programs, including standard operating procedures, policies and training to mitigate risk, optimize worker's health and safety and foster a positive occupational health and safety culture
  • Provide consultation and deliver training programs to employers and employees on issues of workplace safety

Requirements:


  • 3+ years of strong HSE management experience, preferably within metals or similar manufacturing
  • 3+ years of experience with ISO 14001 implementation and support
  • Must possess the fundamental skill set to manage HSE projects and make presentations
  • Strong auditing skills
  • A university degree is required
  • Formal/higher education in Health, Safety or Environment is preferred/considered an asset.
