Duties:


Parks Canada is seeking for a dynamic and innovative person to work as Promotion Officer for the Northern New Brunswick Field Unit including Kouchibouguac National Park and various national historic sites, such as Fort Beauséjour - Fort Cumberland, Monument-Lefebvre, Beaubassin, Fort Lawrence, Fort Gaspareaux, Boishébert and Beaubears Island Shipbuilding, and Grand-Pré.


As a key member of the external relations team, this person will develop and implement park and historic sites tourism and promotional program activities and products to enhance the awareness of opportunities for visitor experience and to engage Canadians and other visitors in the learning, enjoyment, connection to, and appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage places managed by Parks Canada.


The main Promotion Officer duties are to:

  • develop, evaluate and implement promotional products, activities and projects;
- interpret tourism survey results;
- provide advice and guidance on sustainable tourism and promotion strategies;
- prepare travel trade/media and tourism industry analysis and reports;
- develop tourism-related ads;
- coordinate and conduct familiarization tours and site visits;
- develop and maintain tourism community relations and represent the Agency with the tourism industry and travel media; and
- provide input to business and budget planning.

Parks Canada's mandate is to protect and present Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in Canada.

The Northern New Brunswick Field Unit manages and operates 4 National Historic Sites and Kouchibouguac National Park.

The field unit covers a large geographical area and provides a challenging and stimulating environment due to the often complex and diverse nature of the sites it manages.

EDUCATION:


Graduation from post-secondary studies (minimum of 2 year program) with specialization in marketing, public relations, communications, tourism or other discipline relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience relevant to position.

Degree equivalency


EXPERIENCE:
- *Recent experience analyzing, planning and implementing marketing, promotions and/or communications tourism related projects and programs;

  • Experience planning and implementing marketing, promotions and/or communications projects and programs;
  • Experience providing promotion and communications related advice and guidance to management and staff;
  • Experience working with the tourism industry, including destination marketing organizations;
  • Experience working as part of multifunctional teams.
  • Recent is defined as 2 full years' experience in the last 4 years.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job):
Bilingual - Imperative (CCC/CCC)
Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) fluently in English and French.
Second Language Evaluations will be completed for your second official language.
