What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Manager of Waste Services, and under the direction of the Working Foreperson (Waste services), the Side Loader Operator is responsible for:

  • collecting and disposing of household garbage, organics or yard waste materials for both the dual-stream and single stream collection on assigned routes;
- ensuring thorough completion of assigned routes and assisting with the completion of other routes as required to successfully achieve service levels objectives;
- ensuring the vehicle is regularly serviced and maintained through daily pre and post trip inspections;
- emptying road side litter containers and collecting road side debris;
- performing special collection services of large items;
- adhering to all applicable departmental directives and waste management by-laws; and,
- performing other duties as required and assigned.

What You Bring To Our Team
- a secondary school graduation diploma;
- a minimum of six (6) months directly related experience in residential curbside solid waste collection;
- a minimum of one (1) year recent and demonstrated experience operating vehicles over 11,000 kg., G.V.W., including tandem axle trucks;
- successful completion of Defensive Driving training;
- a demonstrated ability to adhere
