About the Role:


  • Maintain the supplier accreditation platforms across Canada and lead the onboarding of new clients and their unique H&S requirements onsite.
  • Monitor and audit companywide health and safety practices and procedures in accordance with legislation and management system standards.
  • This includes identification of improvement opportunities and providing coaching in these areas.
  • Monitor legislative developments and assist operations with regulators.
  • Inform senior leadership of the implications of existing, new and evolving legislative initiatives in active jurisdictions and the associated liabilities.
  • Develop and implement associated training modules at the corporate level and assist new operations in the establishment of health and safety policies, procedures, and training modules.
  • Organize, schedule, and participate in a regular system of audits. Report on audit findings, monitor progress at operations to complete action plans, and provide assistance as required.
  • Promote a health and safety culture through regular visits to operations, organizing conferences and information exchange which provides for continuous improvement and reduced incident rates across the organization.
  • In cooperation with the VP, Service and Projects, establish annual health and safety objectives and rollout supporting strategies.
  • Collect and evaluate information on operations and report to senior management.
  • Identify and recommend areas for improvement in systems and procedures.
  • Participate with operations to conduct investigations and report on serious incidents.
  • This includes review and report on the nature of incidents, identification of trends and communication with operations and senior management. Ensure that critical learnings from investigations are communicated to all other operations and followup to ensure recommendations are implemented.
  • Maintain contact with other industry professionals and attendance of conferences and various industry meetings.
  • Identify and communicate trends which result in improvements in knowledge and reduction of injury and evaluate overall company performance against our industry peers.

Required Experience:


  • A minimum of 3 years of Health and Safety experience
  • A complimentary diploma preferred.
  • Experience with hazard identification and risk management.
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory requirements in key jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated auditing skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of Health and Safety management systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in data analytics and reporting.
  • Ability to travel domestically to operating and project locations at approximately 30% of time.
