Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) is the lead coordinating Ministry in the provincial government for all emergency management activities.

EMCR is responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction.

EMCR works directly with local governments, Indigenous Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.


EMCR's Financial Recovery Team is responsible for administering and coordinating the recovery of funding from federal programs, including the Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements Program and Indigenous Services Agreements on behalf of the Province of B.C.


Job Requirements:


  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Two years of recent and relevant experience including a combination of the following:
  • Working with external clients and/or applicants in assessing their eligibility for program provisions and,
  • Recommending improvements to program administration materials (e.g., policy, procedure, practices).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Coursework in accounting and/or bookkeeping basics.
  • Experience working with Local Governments, First Nations Communities, Indigenous Services Canada, and/or BC Government ministries and organizations.
  • Experience working in an emergency management organization.

About this Position:


This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness offices: Victoria, Saanichton, Surrey, Kamloops, Nelson, Prince George and Terrace.

Three (3) positions available in Victoria and two (2) positions available in any of the above EMCR offices.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.

An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
