    Available Position

    GHD is currently seeking Intermediate/Senior Building Mechanical Engineers for our office in Markham. This role involves supporting a diverse range of projects related to code consulting, system design/evaluation, fire modeling, and more for various clients in Canada. It demands creativity and forward-thinking to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.

    Responsibilities

    In this role, you will engage in a wide array of tasks, including:

    • Providing design, calculations, and technical assistance for plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems in new or retrofit projects.
    • Conducting engineering studies and producing detailed reports.
    • Transforming markups into CAD or Revit MEP drawings.
    • Compiling project-specific specifications.
    • Managing communication with clients and fellow consultants.
    • Ensuring timely project delivery, coordinating with other disciplines/consultants, and maintaining deliverable quality.
    • Reviewing shop drawings and addressing contractor inquiries during construction.
    • Handling contract administration tasks such as change notices, change orders, and payment certifications.
    • Performing site surveys during design phases and conducting routine site inspections during construction.
    • Assisting in proposal and fee preparations.

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate should possess:

    • Ontario Professional Engineer license, with eligibility to practice in Quebec considered a plus.
    • 8-10 years of experience in plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and BAS systems design.
    • Proficiency in HVAC control systems.
    • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as OBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, CSA, and National Plumbing Code.
    • Strong command of AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel.
    • Self-motivation, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
    • Capacity to adapt to changing workloads and tight deadlines.
    • Project management capabilities.
    • Knowledge of French is advantageous.
