    Customer Service Representative, Switchboard IT - Telecomm (Job ID: 3343)

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Customer Service Representative ensures efficient operation of the Attendant Console and performs duties related to telecommunications at the Switchboard. The Customer Service Representative will provide seamless, prompt, friendly, customer-focused service to patients, residents, families, staff (internal and external), volunteers and the general public and will represent Providence Healthcare to its various constituencies in a manner that is courteous, helpful and professional. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission and Values of Providence Healthcare.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Answering telephone lines;
    • Channeling call to proper departments and parties;
    • Taking messages and ensuring that they are delivered;
    • Receiving C.O.D. parcels, flowers, etc. for patients and residents and obtaining receipts, etc.;
    • Issuing and receiving keys;
    • Keeping index file up-to-date;
    • Directing visitors, salespersons, etc. to patient areas and departments;
    • Reporting unusual situations to administration or Security when they are on duty.

    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Completion of Grade 12 preferred;
    • One year experience preferred;
    • Previous experience in a hospital environment is preferred;
    • Excellent knowledge in all reception duties;
    • Excellent knowledge of code response;
    • Ability to resolve various customer service issues;
    • Excellent customer service skills;
    • Good command of the English language and excellent communication skills;
    • Ability to relate to the public in a patient, courteous and cooperative manner;
    • Ability to work in a team environment;
    • Ability to handle cash transactions, including deposits, issuing receipts;
    • Prior computer knowledge of software packages;
    • Strong organizational and inter-personal skills;
    • Must be flexible with regard to work assignments and able to work with minimum supervision;
    • Very good attendance record;
    • Good performance record.
