Location:
On-site, Mississauga


Hours: 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday


Salary:
$28.00 to $32.00 an hour

Position Description

We are looking for a pharmacy technician who can provide support for general dispensing activities with a focus on the technical aspects of dispensing for new and refill prescriptions.

This will include variety of different tasks that are commonly found in a traditional pharmacy such as prescription filling, processing, and checking, but also untraditional tasks such as solving complex reimbursement issues and coordinating a large volume of patient deliveries.

The pharmacy is scheduled to open late May 2023 and will occupy an 8,000 square feet facility located just south of Toronto Pearson International Airport.

We look to provide an elevated pharmacy offering while having a meaningful and measurable impact on health outcomes for Ontario's educators.


The pharmacy is the very first of its kind, blending elements from other practices such as specialty, community, long term care pharmacy and others.

The initial focus will be on complex, specialty medications and then expanding into therapies for diabetes and related cardiovascular conditions.

From the clinical perspective, the goal is to optimize patient therapies to elevate long-term health outcomes. The pharmacy also aims to provide timely medication delivery to minimize delays in treatment.

You will be working alongside an expert team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants, and logístical support staff to meet each of these objectives.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Utilize the full scope of practice to ensure technical accuracy of drugs dispensed.
  • Accurately confirm that the drug being dispensed matches the physician's order.
  • Assist in inventory management and reconciliation of highcost specialty medications.
  • Communicating with patient support programs to coordinate reimbursement activities.
  • Direct support staff to areas of need in the drug distribution process.
  • Be available to assist pharmacy staff in completing tasks.
  • Management of shipping and dispensing schedules.
  • Assist the pharmacy management in training other staff members.
  • Ensure that documentation of technical tasks is detailed and accurate.
  • Monitoring of pharmacy duties performed required to ensure policies and procedures developed are being followed consistently to ensure safe handling and distribution of specialty medications.

  • Proficiency with Kroll pharmacy management system is strongly preferred.
  • Competency with technology and its integration with pharmacy practice.
  • Ability to resolve thirdparty billing issues.
  • Capable of lifting boxes or materials up to 50lbs.
Education & Experience

  • Registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as an actively licensed pharmacy technician.
  • Two or more years of experience practising as a licensed pharmacy technician.
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy or longterm care pharmacy is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Kroll is an asset.
