Reporting to the Health, Fitness, and Aquatics (HFA) Senior Program Manager, the Fitness Programs Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for the day-to-day operations of the fitness department.

The Fitness Coordinator will ensure that fitness programs provide exceptional experience for participants of all ages.

The Coordinator will provide leadership to the team of the fitness department including the oversight of personal trainers and fitness volunteers.

Knowledge of the fitness industry and physical literacy concepts, experience in Personal Training, group instruction and managing staff will be an asset.


The Fitness Coordinator will also be part of the Duty Manager team ensuring the Centre has supervisory coverage at all times it is open.


_Responsibilities:
_


  • Increase members engagement with the YMCA through effectively planned, organized and lead scheduled fitness programs, orientations, well run fitness programs with a focus on adult fitness;
  • Aim to deliver a wide range of highquality fitness classes throughout the peak periods of the week;
  • Lead and support Fitness Volunteers and Personal Trainers
  • Manage and lead the Member Retention YThrive program, including training staff and volunteers, scheduling appointments, overseeing transition and communication of releases and delivery of appointments.
  • Role model excellent service by spending a minimum of 75% of your time building staff, volunteer and member relationships through direct delivery of Group Fitness Classes, orientations, fitness centre programs, personal training,
  • Lead staff development activities, deliver Fitness Volunteer appreciation, certification and training opportunities for Personal Trainers and Fitness Volunteers.
  • Recruit and hire staff and volunteers as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the YMCA partner groups and develop new partnerships.
  • Coordinate and manage bookings for the Downtown and Fairhaven locations.
  • Support budget development for the fitness department and track major metrics.
  • Provide excellent members experience and be available to answer questions from members regarding training, personal exercise and group programs;
  • Supervise Group Fitness Instructors in different areas during classes/programs, helping members and ensuring all members are following YMCA member etiquette;
  • Develop the schedule and calendar of fitness classes in Activenet.
  • Perform administrative duties including but not limited to staff hours approval etc.
  • Communicate with all other Program Directors/Coordinators as required regarding classes and programming.
  • Other related duties assigned by supervisor/program needs.

_Desired Skills and Qualifications:
_


  • Some postsecondary education in
  • Kinesiology or related field preferred
  • Valid/Current Group fitness certification required to teach classes
  • Initiative and proven capacity to work in a selfdirected manner as well as demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with other staff, partners and participants.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly in a fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and administrative skills.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Criminal Records Search and Child Welfare Check.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including evenings and weekends.
