Your opportunity:


Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Human Resource Services UTSC, the HR Coordinator works independently to provide a range of administrative and support services to the UTSC Human Resource Services office and to provide general human resources information to managers, employees and members of the public.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Acting as a point of contact in respect to a broad range of HR inquiries requiring the provision of information to managers and staff regarding employment policies, legislation and collective agreement provisions, process, protocol and best practice while referring complex matters appropriately.
  • Providing administrative support to the Executive Director and Assistant Director to ensure that their activities are managed in a proactive, professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Providing administrative support to the Senior HR Advisor and Staff Development Coordinator regarding training and development, including promotions and logístical support for training and quarterly orientation offerings at UTSC.
  • Providing administrative support to the HR office to implement and maintain office administrative systems and tracking mechanisms.
  • Providing administrative and research support to special HR related projects assigned by the Assistant Director and/or Executive Director.
  • Providing administrative support to academic HR processes, data collection, reporting and advice pertaining to immigration legislation and process.

Essential Qualifications:


Education:


  • University degree, completion of or working towards a Human Resources Management Certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:


  • Minimum of three (3) years' related human resources administration experience in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of recruitment processes and principles; equity and diversity principles; benefits administration; collective agreement interpretation and grievance process.
  • Experience building data tracking systems, filing systems and office organizational systems.
  • Experience generating reports from HRIS and spreadsheets.
  • Experience working in a confidential setting.
  • Experience in a customer service setting dealing effectively with a diverse group of clients in difficult or sensitive situations.

Skills:


  • Knowledge of HR best practices and a strong understanding of employment legislation and collective agreement administration.
  • Website design and maintenance; keyboarding skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Visio and; Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience with online recruitment tools, social media; experience using HRIS, Learning Management and Success Factors or similar systems.

  • Ability to manage a fluctuating workload under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a team.

Assets (Nonessential):


  • Experience providing human resources administrative services to a large, diverse workforce.
  • Experience organizing and planning presentations.
