About this Role


This combined position of Teacher Assistant, Lunch Supervision Aide, and After-School Care Supervision starts at 9:40 am until 2:45 pm when After-School Care runs until 5:10 pm.

Working days will be those when the students are in attendance, including two days before the start of school for set-up and two days at the end of the school year for clean-up.

In addition to supporting students, this position assists teachers with teaching and non-instructional tasks, assisting in areas of student personal care, as well as cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development.


After-School Care Program Responsibilities:


  • Oversee and coordinate the After School Care Program at the Little School from 2:45 pm to 5:10 pm Monday to Friday on days when school is in session
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and coordinator at the Little SchoolProvide a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for Senior Kindergarten students
  • Prepare, plan, and implement for activities daily as well as for special events
  • Carry out emergency procedures such as fire drills
  • Maintain records of students
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, including managing allergies

Teacher Assistant Responsibilities:


  • Assist the teacher in the implementation of the curriculum by preparing classroom materials
  • Reinforce concepts introduced by the teacher and supports instructional programs designed by the teacher
  • Supervise student lunch and/or recess inside and outside
  • Collaborate and maintains regular communications with teachers, other team members, and other relevant staff
  • Foster positive relationships with students
  • Observe and interact with students, providing support, guidance, and assistance to promote their development
  • Supervise student(s) both on and off the school campus as required
  • Operate standard school and office equipment, including mac laptop and google suite, instructional aid communication, and special individualized equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Collaborative and flexible teamplayer
  • Knowledge of the current research on girls and learning
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, timemanagement, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in a collegial and supportive manner
  • Able to provide care and mature guidance to children
  • Have relevant work experience
  • Early Childhood Certification or Responsible Adult Training is an asset
  • Current First Aid Certification
  • Food Safe Certification
  • 19 years of age or over
