  • Job SummaryOne of six units in the Division of Student Affairs, Vikes Athletics and Recreation (ATRS) offers varsity high performance sport programs, competitive intramural and sport clubs, and a broad array of health and wellness programs to university student, staff, faculty, and the broader community. As a subbrand of the University, the Vikes programs have a high profile in the greater Victoria community, through partnerships, community programming, alumni outreach and events. Vikes Athletics and Recreation's commitment to excellence in sport, health and wellness, and customer service make it a key contributor to student success on campus, and the department plays a critical role in student recruitment and retention. As a partial ancillary service, the department must generate significant revenue to support an operating budget that includes salaries, facilities and an ongoing capital renewal plan through membership sales, program offerings, fundraising (philanthropic and corporate sponsorship) and facility rentals. With the addition of an annual $1.4M CARSA mortgage to the operating budget, the business model for the department continues to evolve to reflect the current operating reality.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Marketing Engagement and Programs, and working closely with the Vikes Events Operations Coordinator and other ATRS staff, the Vikes Events Marketing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating event promotions, production, and team services.

The Coordinator also develops strategies and implements plans to market UVic athletic facilities to 3rd parties and to enhance highly effective Vikes athletics events, such as Vikes varsity regular season home games, exhibition games, championship tournaments, centennial stadium track events and programs, annual marquee events, 3rd party events, etc.

In the production of events, this position provides supervision and leadership development to students and community event staff and volunteers.
