Position Summary and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the Seasonal Labourer

Parks will be responsible to perform winter maintenance including snow clearing/hauling/removal and winter salting operations. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintenance, construction and/or repair work related to parks, open spaces, water courses, sports fields, daily tree maintenance, pruning, outdoor ice rink maintenance, garbage collection and event set ups.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated experience in parks maintenance and construction, arboriculture, horticulture, and winter maintenance.
Possess working knowledge of parksrelated equipment operation and maintenance and the ability to operate various tractors and loaders with attachments, pick up trucks with plows and tree pruning equipment.
Ability to deal courteously and effectively with staff and the general public and work well under direction and also take initiative to respond appropriately to situations.
Ability to read, comprehend and understand WHMIS labels, equipment manuals, complete logs and incident reports to fulfil health and safety obligations. Must have a practical working knowledge of health and safety regulations, and procedures.
Standby/on call is a mandatory requirement of this position and must be available to work days, afternoons, evenings and weekends including 24hour oncall, as scheduled.
A Class G driver's license in good standing is required. A DZ license would be considered an asset.

Successful applicants to this position will be required to provide a
Police Criminal Record Check, Driver's Abstract and CVOR Abstract that is satisfactory to the Town prior to their start date at the applicants' own cost.
