The Review Board Coordinator provides administrative support in relation to Ontario, Yukon, and Nunavut hearings including preparation for hearings and processing and distribution of Review Board documentation.

In this role you will support day-to-day operations which include preparation of treatment team conferences and compiling statistics for hospital and Ministry of Health.


Duties:


  • Schedule and coordinate Ontario Review Board (ORB) hearings, as well as coordinate Yukon and Nunavut hearings;
  • Provide information to Legal Aid Ontario for patient counsel representation; arrange for legal services for hospital when necessary.
  • Represent hospital at ORB hearings when requesting adjournments, providing dates when necessary.
  • Accept patient appeals on behalf of hospital and forward to Ontario Court of Appeal and ROHCG legal services.
  • Collect relevant patient information; provide parties with necessary hearing documents and reports
  • Play a role in Condition Level Request process by entering required comments pertaining to Dispositions to assist Sr. Manager and Clinical Director in request approval; provide administrative support by typing letter, inquiries to Review Boards, notices to ORB regarding Restriction of Liberties and readmissions
  • Schedule all inpatient treatment conferences
  • Answer inquiries and provide information orally and written to ORB, Police agencies, counsel, Crown Attorney.
  • Ensure Rule 13 Transfer Request process is adhered to in a timely manner and respond to hospitals in consultation with Clinical Director.
  • Act as resource to staff, new hires, students;
  • Attend Legal Coordinator meetings when required.
  • Compile statistical data for hospital and Ministry of Health requirements.
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal's Anti-Racism, Harassment, & Discrimination Free Workplace Policy
  • Other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications:


  • Completion of a 2 year legal or medical based College program (paralegal).
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an administrative assistant role in a health care setting.
  • Sound knowledge of general office procedures and equipment
  • Advanced organizational and problem solving skills
  • Experience with data analysis, data manipulation, reports/statistics generation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of initiative, judgement and discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to assess inquiries and problems and to exercise good judgement in taking appropriate actions
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively and independently with frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in shared responsibilities
  • Demonstrated success in effectively organizing and prioritizing work assignments
  • Ability to work flexible hours occasionally based on work demands
  • English level A is mandatory in oral expression/comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.

Salary Range:

to 38.28 per hour
