    Position Details

    The Director of Forest Engineering and Industry Services is accountable for resource road planning and forestry engineering, industry services and forest protection.

    The position provides leadership and direction to staff in industry development and forest protection programs and is responsible for resource development (financial, human, facilities, and inventory).

    It directs the implementation of forest engineering services including oversight of the GIS database of forest resource road locations and stream crossings.

    It oversees the coordination of forest fire suppression, education and prevention (FireSmart) programs and liaises with the Air Services Division of the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure for fire suppression activities.

    It oversees the coordination and delivery of forest insect monitoring and control programs.

    It provides oversight to the development of policy and legislation and oversees the administration of the Forest Timber Royalty Rates.

    It coordinates and recommends forest research and development projects that diversify and enhance the forest sector, evaluating new industry development project proposals, providing recommendations to executive, and overseeing technical evaluation of industry development projects.

    It is responsible to provide executive with technical expertise on industry development and forest protection, writing briefing, meeting and information notes and papers and providing timely and accurate information on program activities to maximize public safety/awareness.

    The position serves on national and international committees and working groups pertaining to forest fire management, forest insects, forest research, and forest standards.
