The Opportunity
We are looking for a high energy and motivated Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our 0-6 coordinator team.

This position will provide support with the day-to-day operations of the LEC programs and will carry out responsibilities in a wide variety of areas.

CSSEA Wage Grid 6, Step 2 - $20.62

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists senior staff in monitoring children in indoor and outdoor activities and during rest periods.
  • Assists in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
  • Under close supervision, conducts activities with children on an individual and group basis to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills.
  • Attends to children's physical needs, which may include diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping.
  • Maintains records, reports problems or concerns to senior staff.
  • Keeps program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to senior staff.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:


  • Education and Knowledge
  • Grade 12, plus enrolment in Early Childhood Education Certificate program or completing work experience required for licensing.
  • Training and Experience
  • One (1) year equivalent of recent related education, training, and experience
  • Valid First Aid and CPR
  • Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to be flexible, resourceful and possess good time management skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, including lifting, and bending.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts, pertinent regulations, policy, procedures and other statutory and certification requirements (such as the Mental Health Act; Adult Guardianship Act;;
Child, Family and Community Service Act; and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act);

  • Effective listening and consensus building skills that promote communication and a cooperative approach to problem solving and decision making;
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a multicultural environment, independently and as part of a team, including understanding the frameworks of other disciplines;
  • Ability to maintain professional integrity, boundaries, and confidentiality;
  • Ability to make effective referrals in a collaborative manner, reflecting indepth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with other community partners; and
  • Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing under represented y groups including LGBTQ2S+ and Indigenous youth and young adults;
  • Knowledge and respect of the diversity of the BC population;
