The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission (NVRC) is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families, and communities. NVRC offers a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities.

We are seeking personable, reliable, and responsible staff to lead After School Programs at various NVRC Facilities and Elementary Schools in North Vancouver.


Responsibilities

  • Set up and take down of program activity in shared spaces;
  • Follow school rules relating to using shared spaces and school amenities.
  • Ensure participants have safe and fun activities;
  • Plan, supervise and encourage participation in program activities for children in Kindergarten up to Grade 7;
  • Communication to parents and/or school staff as needed;
  • Report incidents or accidents to direct supervisor;
  • Follow policies and procedures relating to Supervision of Children and working independently

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Work and/or volunteer experience with children in K to Gr 7;
  • Ability to establish good rapport with young people, coleaders, school staff, and supervisors;
  • Has sound judgement and maturity to work on and offsite independently;
  • Currently enrolled in Grade 11, Grade 12 or postsecondary;

Required certifications

  • Standard First Aid with CPR-C
  • High 5 Certification required within 3 months of hire
This is a casual position working 8-10 hours per week, generally Tuesdays


HOURLY RATE:

$18.00 to $20.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
