    Position Type: Full time - Permanent

    Location: Edmonton

    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday


    First Truck Centre, doing business as Velocity Truck Centres, is currently accepting resumes for an experience Payroll Administrator.


    Position Overview

    The Payroll Administrator is responsible for assisting with the payroll processing of approximately 700+ employees within Canada. Performs duties that require an understanding of company payroll policies and union agreements, and procedures with a strong level of customer service.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists with processing semi-monthly salary and hourly payroll in a timely and efficient manner, and in compliance with all federal, provincial, union, and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepares payroll calculations and updates the payroll system with information from relevant sources including pay increases, department transfers, new hires, terminations, retroactive pay adjustments etc. Prepares ROE's, journal entries and 3rd party remittances.
    • Validates commission reports received.
    • Reconciles payroll accrual accounts monthly.
    • Balances and validates any imports.
    • Assists with processing off-cycle runs and bonus runs.
    • Audits pending PTO approvals and reaches out to managers to ensure they are approved and processed on time.
    • Reviews and ensures proper approval of timecards.
    • Research discrepancies effectively, make appropriate corrections, and respond promptly to manager and employee inquiries.
    • Maintains confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum 2 years' experience in payroll or other accounting functions.
    • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills; ability to communicate with various levels of management.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate/advance level knowledge and skills in Excel (Vlookup, pivot tables).
    • Must have excellent attention-to-detail, documentation and follow up skills.
    • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills

    Asset Qualifications

    • Professional payroll designation is an asset but not required.
    • Knowledge and experience with pay processing software/applications (ie. UKG, Ceridian Dayforce) is desired but not necessary.
