The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the centre of the province's power system, ensuring Ontarians have access to reliable and cost-effective electricity when and where they need it.

We operate the province's electricity grid 24/7, design, run and oversee the wholesale electricity markets, and plan and prepare to meet Ontario's electricity needs - now and into the future.


The opportunity


Provide professional support in the preparation and delivery of regional and community engagement products and services consistent with the IESO Stakeholder and Community Engagement Principles.

Contribute to Regional & Community Engagement priorities, working with local and regional municipalities, community and business groups, stakeholders, and other entities as well as internal stakeholders to coordinate and deliver relevant and timely products.


What you'll do

  • Support the Supervisor, Regional & Community Engagement (R&CE) and team in undertaking engagement and outreach activities in accordance with IESO Engagement Principles, including preparing materials and coordination of information and schedules with other Business Units.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing written communications to broad stakeholder audiences including municipalities,, communities, associations, customers andmarket participants.
  • Work and interact with external stakeholders through written communications, or in webinars/meetings to resolve issues, provide clarifications or facilitate meetings. And, identify existing or potential issues either noted by stakeholders, the team or through daily work, and raising them to appropriate channels.
  • Manage materials, planning and coordination of events associated with municipal and other key community associations and yearly conference trade shows led by R&CE (i.e. AMO, NOMA, ROMA, OMAA, FONOM,, EDCO and OPPI) and other business units to ensure consistent corporate presence is maintained at other sector conferences and trade shows.
  • Document regional and community outreach initiatives; develop and maintain a database/spreadsheet of activities for municipalities, communities and other constituencies across the province.
  • Seek opportunities to simplify or adapt current processes based upon changes in either the changing electricity market or for evolving best practices in public engagement, including the investigation of new technologies to help the group function more efficiently.
  • Assist in the daytoday management of R&CE pages of the IESO website, updating and developing content as required.
  • Periodic travel across the province to Regional & Community Engagement meetings and events.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Requires a strong knowledge of communications, and community/stakeholder relations to assist with the development and provision of written communications, products and materials that will support Regional & Community Engagement (R&CE).
  • Requires a strong knowledge of English both oral and written to effectively develop communications products and services.
  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of a four year University education in the appropriate field, or the equivalent.
  • Requires experience in a variety of engagement activities and working with externals municipalities, customers and/or stakeholders.
  • A period of over 4 years and up to and including 6 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
