Overview

We're looking for a self-motivated
Maintenance Person to join our dynamic Real Property and Workplace Services Maintenance team. This position performs technical, building service, and maintenance work which may vary according to facility activities and operational requirements.


In this role, you'll use your physical abilities to install and disassemble furniture systems, move, and position furniture and office equipment, operate manual and power operated tools, and provide assistance to the maintenance tradesperson as required.

Where you'll work
In this role you will be working onsite at our Richmond, British Columbia office.

What you'll do


As a maintenance person you will:

  • Perform tasks relating to the repair, maintenance or operation of Board facilities and Area Offices
  • Assemble, install, and disassemble modular furniture systems
  • Ensure any hazardous materials are handled with due care
  • Shred and ensures disposal of confidential materials
  • Provide assistance to the Maintenance tradesperson regarding the repair or renovation of physical structures
  • Patching and painting
  • Assist with carpentry and millwork as required
  • Operate a variety of manual and power operated tools appropriate to the assigned task and ensure that equipment is maintained properly and in good working order
  • Performs a variety of duties related to the repair and maintenance of Area Offices
  • Occasionally transports supplies and materials using a variety of different sized vehicles
  • Responds to emergencies and fire alarms according to procedures
  • Acts as a resource to contractors and other individuals by providing work direction and ensuring job site problems are solved together
  • Performs inventory and warehouse duties

  • Perform physical repair and maintenance work
  • Install and assemble equipment
  • Communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and monitor a workload independently and within a team, to meet desired objectives using established procedures in a safe and timely manner
  • Evaluate and analyze a variety of technical information, problems, and client needs and take timely, appropriate action to ensure a safe, comfortable environment
  • Work overtime on an asneeded basis
  • Occasionally travel to provincewide area offices to perform work
  • Maintain professionalism especially when interacting with staff, clients, vendors and contractors
  • A team player who is committed to working in a quality and fast paced environment
  • Assist tradespeople with construction and renovation projects
  • This position requires regular and punctual attendance.

Your background and experience

  • Completion of Grade 1
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a vehicle (Class 5).
