This role is based at our Tumbler Ridge office, and successful candidates will be expected to reside in the area in order to support our on-site operations.

    Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the successful delivery of water management initiatives, including, water treatment, source control, and water monitoring programs among other areas.
  • Lead regular meetings with the team to update the status of initiatives, ensure timelines and deadlines are met, and address any challenges.
  • Manage the water management project tracking system, providing updates on progress and risks, and establishing and managing document control processes.
  • Coordinate the implementation of water management and monitoring programs, including data assimilation, interpretation, work plan development, budgets, and scheduling.
  • Assist in technical project development to ensure strategic water management objectives are met and water stewardship principles are embedded as project fundamentals.
  • Establish effective working relationships with water management stakeholders, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment of objectives.
  • Update and enhance Conuma's site-specific water management strategies that protect the environment by reducing risks while creating value and supporting mining operations.
  • Provide oversight and manage consultants by tracking project status, ensuring schedule and budget are met, and effectively coordinating their activities.
  • Provide advice, resources, and assistance to employees, contractors and consultants in interpreting the company's water management strategy, policies, and procedures.
  • Facilitate collaboration with the environmental compliance, permitting, project development, and engineering departments to ensure alignment and integration of water management activities.
  • Track and review proposed or new water-related legislation and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Prepare accurate reports on water management activities, including progress updates, compliance status, and potential risks.
  • Stay informed about emerging water management technologies, trends, and best practices, and recommend their implementation as appropriate.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

    Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters degree or higher in Environmental Science, Water Resources Management, Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in water management or a related role, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial mining water practices and regulations is required.
  • Knowledge of water management regulations and permitting processes.
  • Experience in developing and implementing water management plans and strategies.
  • Familiarity with water treatment technologies and solutions.
  • Strong understanding of water infrastructure and systems.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting software/tools.
  • Excellent knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices.
  • Professional designation and meeting the BC provincial requirements of a qualified professional in a water-related field, or eligibility for such designation, is considered an asset.

    Technical Competencies & Skills

  • Ability to adhere to a 5x2 schedule with 8-hour shifts.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to track multiple deliverables, organize priorities based on deadlines and manage competing priorities to meet all deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of mine water management principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with water treatment, source control, and hydrometry.
  • Understanding of water management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with employees, contractors, consultants, stakeholders, and Indigenous Nations.
  • Proficiency in project management, including tracking progress, managing risks, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills to manage multiple projects, tasks, and stakeholders.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills to track water management initiatives, interpret data, and prepare accurate reports.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance and permitting requirements.
  • Collaborative approach to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Project and Planner, and other relevant software tools for task management, the compilation of various forms of information, and reporting.

    Wage and Benefits

    Conuma Resources takes pride in providing industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package that truly values our employees. Specifically for the Water Coordinator role, we offer an annual base salary range of $90, $100,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses. These bonuses include monthly efficiency bonuses linked to safety and production, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance bonus tailored to reward your contributions. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks.

    Employee Transportation

    This role is based in our Tumbler Ridge Office, however, regular travel to Conuma's Mine Site locations near Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd will be required.

  • Chetwynd to our Brule Mine and Willow Creek Mine
