Role Summary
The primary responsibility of the Teaching Professional is to manage and operate the Teaching Academy for the 2023 season.

The Professional will be responsible for creating player development programs to foster a recreational, fun environment along with a competitive environment, including junior programming for beginner and experienced players.

The term of this agreement shall be for a period of 6 months commencing on Monday May 1st, 2023 and ending on Sunday October 29th 2023 with the potential to continue to provide teaching and coaching during the offseason using the indoor simulator.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage, oversee, and direct all Nest Academy offerings, Reporting into the Head Golf Professional.
  • Create Academy programs that enhance services and will generate interest and enthusiasm among members, FH homeowners and visitors
  • Develop player development programs to foster a recreational, fun environment along with a competitive environment, including junior programming for beginner and experienced players
  • Ensure that all payments for Academy programming and individual lessons are being charged accurately and within a reasonable timeframe. Receipts must be retained and made available to management if requested
  • Utilize stateoftheart teaching and coaching theories and integrate the use of Trackman technology, video, and training aids appropriately in all programming
  • Key departmental contributor for coaching, custom fitting and providing expert advice
  • Accountable for maintaining the upkeep of the practice facilities ensuring safe, clean, organized, and professional conditions are maintained at all times
  • Maintain teaching aid, equipment and demo/fitting inventory in excellent condition
  • Responsible in assisting with the promotion and sales of all Academy offerings and individual lessons
  • Prepare, attend, and contribute to departmental and organizational meetings as required
  • Assist with developing the facility's reputation of consistently delivering high quality customer service
  • Maintain The Nest Golf standards and member satisfaction
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Adhere to all Friday Harbour policies and procedures and attend all necessary training and orientation sessions
  • Conduct themselves at all times in a professional and respectful manner and in accordance with the recognized standards of being a PGA professional
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • University degree or college diploma preferred in a related field
  • Registered and qualified member in good standing of the PGA of Canada required
  • Competence with ChronoGolf and Golf Genius considered an asset
  • Private club experience considered an asset
  • Successfully completed Instructor of Intermediate Golfer Certificate or equivalent
  • Competence in the rules of golf and handicapping
  • Experience successfully coaching clients of different ages and skill levels, individual and groups
  • High level of knowledge and expertise pertaining to the game of golf
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detailoriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment
  • Must be extremely responsible with integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Stand, sit or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pull
