Purpose


Leads and oversees HR Data Management in ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Manager is responsible for supporting the HR Data Management Admins, Consultants and Team leads to deliver accurate, effective, and efficient responses to HR-related cases and transactions from Scotiabank employees via all deliver channels.


Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and drive a customerfocused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Provide guidance to Admins, Consultants and Team Leads and ensure processing of employee, job data and org. & position management changes for executives are completed in alignment with standard processes and related performance targets.
  • Coaches HR Data Management Admins, Consultants and Team Leads to develop and retain talent
  • Develop and hold self and team accountable to meet objectives aligned to unit's goals and KPIs, prioritizing workload and realigning resources as required in order to optimize results.
  • Track and report on volume and activity completed by the team through regular and established reporting.
  • Partner with other teams in HR and Business lines in ensuring corporate projects and initiatives are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, and consult with Sr. Manager, Data Management, Director of Operations, Business HR Partners, and COEs in developing practical solutions.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions
  • Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Lead the education and ongoing development of HR Data Management team by creating, delivering and maintaining training and communication materials across appropriate channels (e.g. team huddles, lunch and learn sessions, Scotialive posts, newhire orientation training, etc.)
  • Manage highprofile, sensitive, or complex inquiries or escalations by providing the HR Data Management Adminsm Consultants & team leads with the necessary support enabling him/her to successfully respond, assuming ownership and managing the inquiry directly, or determining when further escalation is required for resolution
  • Seek opportunities to improve processes and customer service by identifying service deficiencies, and consulting with Sr. Manager to develop solutions
  • Suggest, participate and support change initiatives across the HR Data Management Team; identify, analyze and support opportunities for improvement in the process and effectiveness of delivering project objectives and goals
  • Monitor trends in inquiries and/or issues and share key insights with Senior Manager, HR Data Management.
  • Build a high performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Experience / Education:


  • Post-Secondary Degree in Human Resources or Business or related field.
  • CHRP designation is considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience in resolving customer service requests.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of organizational structure and complexity.
  • Experience coaching/leading a small team.
  • Knowledge of data administration and endtoend processes.
  • Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with transaction processing and data management.
  • Experience in conflict/issue resolution.
  • Must exhibit good judgment and authority, along with strong analytical skills to provide solutions and expertise to HRrelated inquiries
