Family Service Toronto (FST) helps people face a wide variety of life challenges. For over 100 years,
we have worked with individuals and families destabilized by precarious mental health and/or
socioeconomic circumstances, to achieve greater resilience and stability in more just and
supportive communities. We achieve this through our direct service work of intervention and
prevention which includes counselling, peer support and education; knowledge building; and

The Opportunity
Families in Transition provides workshops, groups and individual counselling to children, youth
and adults to support them through separation and divorce. We are seeking someone with
Transition team, in which counsellors use a range of therapeutic modalities, participate in
clinical consultations and have a shared commitment to professional development.

What we are looking for:
Counselling expertise:
- Provide culturally competent, trauma informed and evidencebased counselling for
- Facilitate workshops
- Experience and/or knowledge of working with people facing an array of challenges,
violence, mental health and developmental disabilities
- Provide services to clients from diverse ethnocultural communities, diverse sexual
systemic issues
- Provide professional clinical assessments, case notes and reports in a timely manner using
Key Qualifications:
- M.S.W., M.A. or M.Ed.; Foreign credentials or BSW combined with relevant experience are
- Applicants must be registered and in good standing with the College of Social Workers and
- Three to five years experience in a clinical counselling role.
- Demonstrated clinical training, experience, and competence in integrating at least two
CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, DBT)
- Demonstrated training and knowledge working with children, youth and adults
- Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of the principles of social justice, cultural
- Current knowledge of best practices in mental health (e.g., crisis deescalation, suicide
- Ability to provide counselling in a second language, such as Spanish, Tamil, French,
- Mandarin, Cantonese, Somali, Arabic, is a strong asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
