- Provides the delivery of primary lines of business to client departments by carrying out the selection, negotiation, appraisal, acquisition, management and disposal of property and property rights including: negotiate leases, licences, easements and other limited interest agreements on behalf of the City both as landlord and tenant
- Negotiates the acquisition of property for municipal purposes
- Disposes of surplus City property in accordance with applicable legislation
- Reviews appraisal reports for the acquisition, lease, disposal and cash in lieu of parklanddedication payments of property
- Collects, categorize and analyse sales data based on Registry Office records
- Maintains, coordinate arrangements for encroachment agreements on City property
- Responds to inquiries from other departments, government agencies and the public onproperty issues
- Prepares draft reports to Council, Committee and Senior Management
- Implements strategies, policies and procedures to ensure maximum return on City realestate assets
- Optimize the performance of City real estate assets through the real estate life cycle by adhering to appropriate lease and land management practices
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Post secondary education from a recognized university or college
- Completion of one or more real estate designation from Appraisal Institute of Canada, International Right of Way Association, or Real Estate Institute of Canada
- Minimum five years experience in the application of real estate functions related to: commercial leasing, property acquisition and disposal, stakeholder negotiations, encroachments, land management and land use planning, property appraisal, expropriation
- Demonstrated knowledge of real estate principles, land registry practices and applicable real estate laws and legislation
- Strong background in commercial-industrial investment real estate markets
- Ability to perform high level market research and analysis
- Strong computer literacy
- Excellent communication, advocacy and report writing skills
- Previous municipal experience is a considerable asset Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 86,858 - $ 115,812
