We currently have a
Regular Part Time (0.5 FTE) opportunity for a
Hemodialysis Technical Assistant in the
Hemodialysis Department at our
Bayview and CNIB campus.


Hours of Work:


Weekday:
Days, Evenings; 8hrs and 12hrs; As per schedule;

Alternate Weekends:
Days, Evenings; 8hrs and 12hrs; As per schedule,


Statutory Holidays required

Summary of Duties


As a member of the inter-professional team providing patient-focused care, the Technical Assistant will work closely with Registered Nurses, Technologists, and other health care professionals to support dialysis patient care.

The Technical Assistant will provide assistance with hemodialysis equipment, setup, take-down, cleaning, and disinfection.

The Technical Assistant will use aseptic technique and adhere to the quality standards for Infection Prevention and Control and CSA safety standards.

In addition, the Technical Assistant will assist in inventory management and stocking of all dialysis supplies. The Technical Assistant will also play an active role in Nephrology Program quality improvement initiatives and inter-professional committees.


Qualifications/Skills

  • Minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education of Ontario (required)
  • Completion of a Dialysis Technical Assistant or Dialysis Technologist Program Preferred
  • Current work as a Health Care Provider, Technical Assistant, Technologist in an acute care hemodialysis unit Preferred
  • Computer literacy in a windows operating system
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, conflict resolution skills, time management skills and mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Willingness to show initiative and adapt to change
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively use organizational resources
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and supplies
  • Commitment to the values and philosophy of interprofessional patientfocused care delivery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
