We are currently looking to hire a
Junior Environmental Scientist **to join our Environment and Water Practice in our Nanaimo, B.C.

office.

The successful applicant will work with junior, intermediate and senior environmental scientists and engineers that are committed to providing mentorship and technical skills training in order to advance the development of our people.

The salary range for this position is $60K to $75K per annum.

education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.


Some of the Responsibilities you may have:

  • Conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Overseeing drill rig and heavy equipment to describe and collect quality soil samples.
  • Groundwater and surface water sampling.
  • Soil vapor sampling.
  • Soil classification and topsoil assessments.
  • Remediation and spill response.
  • Hazardous materials assessments and removal.
  • Construction Environmental Monitoring, including erosion and sediment control planning and monitoring.
  • Working with Project Managers/Discipline Teams to maintain quality control of data.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of leadingedge contaminated sites practices.
  • Data analysis and technical reporting (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • 13 years of experience in contaminated sites sampling protocols and have interest in, and be comfortable undertaking field work and officebased reporting requirements.
  • Must have a degree in environmental science or engineering.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and must provide current drivers abstract when applying.
  • Environmental consulting experience in B.C. is required, with knowledge of B.C. environmental regulations an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Health and Safety awareness for various types of projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the manual labor duties required.
  • Travel and working extended hours is a requirement of the role.
  • Field work will constitute approximately 50% of weekly duties, with 50% office work.
